Coaches
Head Coach. Joe Hottinger
first played for Oroville post 95 in 1948 for coach
Joe Felipe. The former scout for the Kansas City Royals,
took over as head coach in 1962, when his former high school coach Johnnie
Johnson asked him if he would like the job. In the first 25 years as coach
Oroville post 95 won 23 league Champion ships. Joe touched the lives of many
young men who went on in life and became successful baseball Players, Doctors,
Lawyers and great Citizens. I have never seen a person take an interest in his
players like Joe does. Players from his first team still keep in touch with
him. I know he wants to retire from coaching but like I tell him every year,
just one more year Joe.
Assistant Coach. Tim Harles,
Played Legion ball for Joe in 1996 and then went on to play four years of
college baseball, an outfielder with a major league arm who played at Yuba
College and Mt. Mercy U, once made the comment every thing Joe told him was
told to him in college so he knew he wanted to coach with him. Tim has been
coach of the Oroville High School J.V.baseball team
for three years and with five years now in American Legion Baseball Tim could
be the one to take over when its time.
Gary
Nolan to coach pitchers in 2010
Ten year Cincinnati Reds Ace
pitcher Gary Nolan will help his former coach and team in 2010 to help develop
Oroville pitchers to get them ready for College and more.
What a great opportunity for high school
and college pitchers to learn the art of pitching under a ten year major league
pitcher.
